Sure, while most people drink coffee as a caffeine delivery mechanism, some people actually like the taste and don't want to get the jitters. They are crazy, but hey, different strokes for different folks. For them, if they really want to make sure they got real decaf, there's D+caf strips.
These little strips allow you to tell whether or not that smug jerk at Starbucks gave you what you ordered. Simply dip the strip in and it'll change colors if it detects more than 20mg of caffeine. Then you can throw that hot, caffeinated coffee in the barista's face and demand decaf, because you sure don't need to become any more high strung.

Actually, this is pretty cool. More than a tiny amount of caffeine makes me very very sick. I don't drink coffee at all (what's the point without the caffeine?) but it would be useful for other beverages and teas that MIGHT contain caffeine, but you can't be sure.

I have never been a coffee drinker, but I get a kick out of watching friends and colleagues jonesing for coffee fixes. I am particularly amused by barista culture with the almost minimum wage coffee experts that will blithely pour you a Vente of caffeinated even though the customer requested a decaf.
Why should the barista be concerned about the customer’s medical problem with caffeine?
Now if the customer dropped a buck or two into the tip jar, that would be different.

If the didn't look like urine test strips (ovulation, ketones, etc) they would be intriguing.

I use these Decaf Strips and they are extremely helpful and work great. I haven't seen any color changes, though. I only see a line appear near the C or D. Caffine triggers my heart into atrial tachecardia which is very uncomfortable, so I'm glad I have them. I just wish they weren't so expensive!
