Giving birth in a warm water bath is much more popular in Europe and Asia than in the USA, and most mothers in this country who choose a waterbirth, deliver their babies at home in a bathtub. While specialized birthing tubs have been around for a while, this new design from Darling Dushinka looks like the Rolls-Royce of waterbirth vessels. With an adjustable seat, warm massage jets, an overhead grab bar, and even a seat in the tub for the expectant father, this tub makes it easy to have a comfortable waterbirth within the safety of a hospital.

I must be missing something here. What keeps the baby from drowning on it's way out?

A nice niche product, cool concept however the current product from the picture has many practical, ergonomic, manufacturing and economic flaws. Needs a look into the size of it for one. Whilst it looks big enough for the father and family! and friends! to all fit in none of them in their right minds would want too Im afraid... thats just gross.

The umbilical cord.

A baby doesn't naturally breathe right away if he is exposed to nice body temp water at birth. OUT of the water, it starts breathing.
This birth method is tons less stressful for mom and baby

Definitely a good design. I curious to see if hospitals in the states may bring in a similar product. I can't imagine anyone trying to give birth in their home bathtub..

That is good way i guess. Underwater birth means delivery occurs while the mother is submerged in water. In this method, mother and new born child are benefited. But sometimes child has threat of inhalation also.

ARE YOU AN IDIOT?! when the baby is inside you it's already sumerged in water. the baby breathes through the cord. so when it come outs into the water it's till breathing through the cord; until you pull it and out and it takes its first breath. wow. lol
