Sega unleashes disco mirror ball-enabled, cell phone karaoke machine

karaoke918705.jpgSega, ever committed to furthering the fine art of off-key karaoke performances, has unveiled the Hitokara Home Karaoke system in Japan. The device is deceptively cheesy in that it comes with a spinning disco mirror ball for the real hams out there, but features a decidedly geeky mechanism for helping you belt out tunes. The Hitokara Home Karaoke system connects with designated cell phone receivers and wirelessly downloads songs from an online library of over 43,000 free songs.

Once downloaded you can view the song lyrics on your cell phone as the song plays from the Hitokara speaker system. Assuming you like singing a rare mix of dusty 80s pop tunes mixed with select J-pop, you can pick up the Hitokara for just 7,140 yen ($74.42) in December here.
