The ROMP, or Remotely Operated Mobile Platform, is a remote-controlled unit designed to be cheap and versatile. Designer Chris Rogers built it to be able to carry out reconnaissance, bomb investigation and remote detonation, and combat missions — and it looks like he created a great buddy to have in a paintball match as well.
Sadly both the WROMP (the armed version) pictured above and the ROMP are just prototypes, as we'd love to see the WROMP tear it up. Still, it's so simple you could probably build it yourself with the right know-how: all you need is a remote-controlled platform, a paintball gun, and a firing mechanism.
Check out the gallery below for more of Chris Roger's ROMP.

I'd like to set up a mobile surveillance bot that can handle outdoor terrain, has a color camera that can switch to b&w with IR emitters for night vision, and can be controlled via WiFi or the internet.
To get ahold of this sort of tech today, one can try:

The ultimate way to terrorize your dog! I'm totally sold.

I like Aeolius's idea...
Maybe a few cameras.... Forward view, reverse view, and turret cam. Turret being also equipped with paintball cannon.
Then the only thing missing will be treads, and you'd have a pretty effective non-lethal toy tank.

The idea of giving a full size paintball marker a turret and driving it on treads just smacks of glorious cat terrifying goodness.
I think the real area of research is in AI - say making it hunt out and engage bright spots of light (target designation for the torch owning masses?)

Thank you for your comments. Great ideas, well except for the poor terrorized animals...
I can custom build one of these for you if you like.
