New Cray supercomputer is the fastest in the world

It's got some pretty mind-blowing specs: 45,000 quad-core Opteron processors, 362TB of RAM, and a 10PB (petabyte) storage array. The whole thing cooks along at a serious 1.64 petaflops. It's the fastest machine on earth being used for non-classified research, but you've got to assume there are even bigger and badder machines in the deep, secret halls of government.

I hope. But sometimes I'm very surprised by how behind in the times the gov can be in certain fields.

I'd imagine that most of the top of the line supercomputers out there are unknown. Half of em are probably testbeds for new types of programming, new types of hardware, etc etc from computer manufacturers, the other half are probably trying to figure out whether Osama bin Laden's half retarted nephew was really talking about milk when he said "I'll make that delivery today, sir!" In a random cellphone intercept, and maybe a couple that fall into the margin of error that are busily trudging away at some rich crackpot's plans for world domination, apocalpyse, a chain of chicken restauraunts, whatever. In any case chances are if you need a supercomputer you don't people knowin' about it and you don't even WANT your (doubtless powerful) opponents know you have the damn thing.

Dorky- not only has there already been an Atari Jaguar but hello- OS X Jaguar. Couldn't they at least come up for a google search before naming it?
