Japan's Uniqlo targets global geeks for Heat Tech fashion line

uniqloPeopl.jpgJapanese fashion company Uniqlo has decided to go big with its new Heat Tech campaign. The company is holding a global contest in which consumers are asked to upload videos showing how Uniqlo's Heat Tech warms them up. The grand prize is a 5-day Japan Technology Experience Tour for two in Tokyo (better hurry, the deadline is November 17).

In addition to the cool prize offering, on November 18 the company plans to invade Times Square, New York with an armada of Heat Tech human vending machines distributing free Heat Tech gear maintained by an army of X-Men futuristically clothed Uniqlo reps. Why it took the fashion world this long to perfectly merge tech with apparel marketing is a mystery. Nevertheless, it's nice to see Uniqlo reach out to the geek community in a such powerful way. More details on the contest here.

Interesting that the name of the company bears resemblance to the word 'unique'...

yet they are all wearing Dr. Evil's "quasi-futuristic clothes." Decidedly the same.
