If the Hummer had any subtlety, adding tracks to it removes that subtlety

Tracked_Hummer_Green_06.jpgSo you have a Hummer, but it's not quite ridiculous enough. You're looking to go so far over the top you come out on the other side. You're an above and beyond kind of guy. I hear you.

Well, what do you say to adding some tracks to your Hummer? Wheels are so mainstream. And yeah, while this will make your Hummer somehow much less fuel efficient, you were never one to care about gas prices or the environment. You're just looking to impress people with your manly truck. And hey, this thing will definitely make an impression.

Is this really much better off road?

By murc at 6:43 PM ON 11/05/08

yes.

tracks dont get stuck as often as wheels do.
these days, its pretty common to see a tractor with these, its for a purpose...and no...its not cause the farmer is a balla'.

and you don't get punctures either.

If I could edit the title of this post, I would remove "subtlety", and replace it with "fuel economy".

As if the Hummer was ever about fuel economy.

I wonder if that thing can even reach freeway speeds?

Anyway, I bet it really is a beast in the dirt.

Matt tracks had these for years

By Boulengerina at 8:55 AM ON 11/13/08

No, it will not reach freeway speeds. At least not for long. With that many moving parts, something is bound to fail. I think I'll stick with my BF G'riches.

I all kinds of opinions but no video. Come on! How about a little action here? Thought far enough ahead to write down your thoughts that has no basis in any reality but what you witnessed PARKED at a show, but didn't think to put a link to some action? Smooth. Real smooth. Thanks!

Now, if this is the H-1, and is diesel, I could use waste Veggie oil and it would be a little greener!

Pros with tracks: Better grip, lower ground pressure, better stability off-road.

Cons: Road-speed turns to s--t, very noisy compared to conventional tires.
