These days, we've got our fair share of futuristic and slickly-designed gadgets. The problem? The furniture we sit in while we use said gadgets has yet to catch up. This day bed by Mauelsaez aims to change that.
Designed to help prevent the unhealthy posture of hunching over a laptop on a coffee table while you sit on a couch, the Daybed allows you to recline while having full access to your computer. It looks super-comfortable and is nice and stylish to boot. I'd love to have this in my living room for those times when I want to surf the web while watching TV. Pure comfort.

That is what I need... for relaxing and reading this and other blogs. :D

Is it me or do those seats look reminiscent of the chair designs on board the Axiom in Wall-E?

It's really a great idea.
I need it to prevent my unhealthy posture very much, I often feel backache after long time surfing.

Great Design! Ergonomic and Comfortable. Especially that orange color, pretty a color therapy for orange color lover. I'd absolutely have one to support my blogging time!

Needs a cupholder and a place to put your hot pocket.
How can I adapt this for a PC? I don't have a laptop.

Pshah! Piffle! Comfort for your torso, yes [but even there only one position: semi-reclined]. But no armrests. Doh!
And, tho it's not their fault, that's one bulky chair.

Love to get the laptop stand separately! IS it attached?

I'm biased in favor of this product category because I am myself working on something similar. Nice-looking chair but I see several ergonomic issues and I just hate the fact it's missing elbowrests. You just try typing for hours lying down with your arms in the air! It also needs much better integration of the laptop tablet with the chair to make the furniture look cohesive and purposeful, i.e. meant mostly for this task. If not it's just a lounge chair with a tablet prosthesis glued on. I predict lots such niche furniture will come out over the next coming years, it is not a fad.

For a quick mock up just buy a zero-G lounge and a laptop stand. About the same but with arm rests and probably cheaper.

I'm a lefty, will it work the other way?
By Thelsam at 4:38 PM ON 11/27/08
cool idea... Hows about AUDIO? an armrest and it also needs to be adapted for easy mobility.

I already have this- it's called a reclining couch with the PC station next to it.
It worries me that there is no weight limits listed and I doubt the design would support a super-sized person. And I know by looking it would not be good for the shorter user providing good lumbar support.
Just looks like a retro-60/70's PoC chair with a offset table. Forget the lack of places for drink or snack- there is no place for support materials like pen and paper, books, and so on.
This would not be a good buy.

Let me know when they adapt this for use with a desktop. I'm not ready to give up my home computer and use my mobile unit that is basically work-based.

Where is the cup holder?

I am an author and I have a nice fast desktop that I don't use for writing, because I find it much more comfortable to sit in my recliner with is half reclined with a counter next to it nd my SLOW toughbook 27 sitting on my lap. That gives me my arm support, somewhere for papers, pen, and marker, food and drink, as well as good arm support. Also, if you recline into just the right position, then it is pergect on your wrists. I have sat in my chair and typed non-stop (except for bathroom and food breaks) for over ten hours before and have never gotten cramps in my hands or wrists. This chair looks fine for short term, but it looks to be very lacking in the long term areas, like arm supports, tilt and up and down adjustments for different sized people (I know all about that since I am a 5'6" and 275 weight-lifter as well). It just doesn't look functional enough, so I will stick with my recliner, it's comfy!

It looks like the ops & con stations on the Enterprise D, Given that it would also work well as a art & craft chair.

This is just a chair with a bedside tray table. No arm support or cupholder. Try your favorite chair with one of these http://www.phc-online.com/Overbed_Table_s/73.htm.

Great...now I can be on the computer and feel like I am at the dentist's office.
I think they had this design first, but with much more powered adjustments...
