There are times when we could all use a little peace and quiet. Whether it's screaming kids, loud TVs, ringing phones, or a fire truck going down the street, sometimes I wish I could just shut out the world to get some work done. That's the thinking behind the Yamaha MyRoom II, a soundproof booth that's just big enough for one person along with a desk and chair. A touch panel controlled low noise air conditioning system makes sure you can breathe easily, and adjustable lighting lets you set the mood. Size is described as 1.5 Tatami mats (Ha!), which I found works out to about, 4.5 by 6 feet, so it's probably not suitable for sleeping in. Another possible approach is to reverse the problem, by shutting your kid in the MyRoom when they want to play Guitar Hero or do their trumpet practice.
The MyRoom II is designed for easy home assembly, and Yamaha makes several versions that sell in Japan for between $6,500 and $15,000. That's pretty expensive, but the MyRoom II looks way more effective than those noise canceling windows we saw a while back.
No word on whether Yamaha has plans to sell MyRoom II in the USA.

Or for the same amt of money you could soundproof a room in your house. Well, less money probably. Idiots for the win.

yup idd , acoustic insulation is a hell of a lot cheaper than the booth alone costs , your entire home can be transformed into a silent oasis , ad a silent airco and voila .
but hey , there's still people stupid enough to buy a closset with a desk inside ... Maye Palin could make shure she doesn't get disturbed by those loud neighbourly russians ...

1. Drop the political talk. If you're going to diss someone, make sure your grammar is correct so you don't make yourself look like the fool by spelling the word sure like shure or maybe.

Wow this would be neat to have in my house for those times that I want to... er um... learn to play the trumpet? Actually to be serious it would be a cool little spot to read. I find it difficult to read with all the noises of the outside world with the neighborhood dogs barking and the ice cream truck passing every hour. But, then again it is a bit costly just to be able to read lol.
