Walking Power Plant: Docomo unveils prototype power shoes

DOCOSHOES212.jpgMoving one step towards a greener future, literally, Japanese telecom giant NTT Docomo has unveiled a prototype shoe that generates enough energy to perpetually power a portable music player. The shoe has a small generator attached to water filled soles that generate power with every step. The company claims the shoes currently generate about 1.2 watts of energy, but their hope is to get the energy level to 3 watts in order to power cell phones. Despite how futuristic the shoes sound, Docomo intends to release a commercial version of the product as soon as 2010.
