Sony flaunts sexy .3mm-thick flexible 11-inch OLED display
Behold, the flexible OLED screen growing up into maturity right before your eyes. After wowing us with OLED screens at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) last January, Sony's next OLED trick is this flexible 11-inch display that's a mere .3mm thin. This techno-design feat is nowhere near the production stage, but it certainly points to bigger and thinner things on the horizon.
Expect to see these types of displays wrapping around walls, rolling out of scroll-shaped cell phones, blended into car windshields, and completely replacing all those other video screen formats in the next few years. Forget increasing contrast or brightness. Focus on power consumption and durability, then make this wearable. Think about the amount of money kids dumped into "HyperColor" in the late 1980s, and now imagine a reality less hostile to teenagers entering puberty; color changing shirts that do something other than highlight sweaty armpits and/or any unsightly protrusions.
