Here's an unorthodox way to help slow down the effects of cancer: a nice tall glass of shark's blood. Sound gross? It is! But it also might just be effective.
The reason that shark's blood might be the next hot cancer treatment is because sharks, like humans, have antibodies in their blood. The antibodies in sharks blood, like sharks themselves, just so happen to be really, really tough. In addition, because the blood is so resilient, it could survive through the acidic environment of our stomachs, getting to us where we need it. Now this treatment would not cure cancer; it would merely slow it down. But heck, if you could pop a pill of sharks blood and slow down cancer, why would you say no?

Is drinking shark blood really the only way one could use it to help fight cancer and other diseases?

So we can use the regular shark? No super shark creating necessary? Boo.
I hope that this does not just lead to more shark hunting. It is a problem that is hurting shark populations already.

i agree about shark hunting. GIVE ME A BREAK! Drink your own blood, freaking silver bullet zealots. Try a healthy lifestyle before eradicating yet another important part of the ocean biosphere

Shawn, you're over reacting. They never said that they would be hunting sharks, you don't even need the full shark's body for a pill or whatever. Probably all they'll need to do is sedate a shark, collect a small sample of blood and release it back into the water. Plus, shark hunting in general is a bad idea, what with the whole "feeding frenzy" that's hard-wired into their brains.

I would love to think when sharks are caught and tagged, a blood sample is taken, and they are released. And I really hope that's how it is.
Their numbers are falling, not dwindling or decreasing. These animals don't reproduce extremely fast or extremely slow, and there is very little understanding of these creatures because of their appearance. I dont' understand why whaling can be regulated, but sharks are caught for SPORT, or caught, have their fins and jaws ripped out, and dumped back into the water to suffer and die. It is appalling.
I would rather scientists discover that panda meat cures cancer.

Great news for vampires.

Not good news for us because people still think we are freaks... We won't hurt you k?

Until this is proved with substantial evidence I think it's stupid to broadcast it. Sharks face overfishing because of herbal remedies and shark fin soup. This is just going to push them over the edge further towards extinction! Even if it does pove to slow cancer down, it's not a route that should be considered.
