33-story-high billboard displays awesome ads for a mile (hopefully)

33-story-LED-billboard-Dubai.jpg
When a company buys ad space on a billboard, it wants as many people to see its product as possible. A good billboard for that? The 'Podium' ad wall in Dubai: a 33-story-high LED display that can be seen from a mile away. The LED wall is planned for an upcoming commercial building, and its designers are working on building the wall so that it won't block out all of the light reaching the offices it obscures — important for easing energy for lighting, heating and cooling, and making them feel less like bats in a cave.

Let's just hope they turn it off at night, or there's going to be irritated people for a solid mile.

F*&k dubai and all their crap..

dubai = $1.60 a litre/$4.60 gallon fuel prices and yet we "love" them.. drop a bomb on the entire area and let it turn back into the wasteland it was before

bitter arent I! LOL well not really, but I honestly can't understand the fascination with watching all of our hard spent dollars being wasted to show which sheikh has the smallest ... well you know..

Judging by the amount of "big" this and that it must be an entire nation of unics!

It really does'nt have anything to do with any sort of inferiority complex.

They're doing it because they realized in the mid 90's that the oil is gonna run out and it'll most likely be sooner rather then later so they're building all of this so thatwhen it does their economy is'nt completely based on oil, but rather by that time it'sll be based on tourism, finances and other things.

I personally love what Dubai's doing, not only are they showing the true potential of Humanity, but they're also spearheading things that most designers, governments and corporations are afraid to do because they're not the norm.
Of course it probably helps that I don't spend moeny on gas since I use auto travel less then once a month.

i agre iori, the dubai plans and buildings are very nice. and i didnt know thats why they were doing all this.

but i dont know about this billboard. it IS impressive, but........it's kind gaudy. if i had to face that everyday, morning or night, i'ld feel like the ad's being pushed on me. but then i dont live in a big city.
