Vibrating wrist alarm awakens you to the sounds of Silence

silence_clock_twoshot.jpg

Monday morning is often a rude awakening, especially with an obnoxious alarm jarring you out of sleepy-time paradise. That must be why designers keep flirting with the idea of a silent vibrating alarm clock for two, complete with twin vibrating wrist bands that let your bedmate keep sleeping if you’re getting up earlier.

This one’s called Silence, with a pleasing, simple design esthetic that stays out of your way and good vibrations that won’t scare you out of bed every morning. We first saw this idea last year in a shiny design that we liked a little better than this, but still, the concept is long overdue in the real world. Maybe this time a consumer electronics company will be motivated to actually turn this into a shipping product.

love when creative innovation actually shows its face. calcified traditions make us assume something has to work in a particular way. the world is always most interesting when you see something usual executed unusually

I use my cell phone the same way. Just pop it under your pillow. It does make a noise that way, and it's amplified if you have a box-spring mattress, but I have always found it to be a lot less jarring than an alarm that plays noises.

I'm looking to buy something like this "right now". I work...hubby is retired. I wear ear plugs due to snoring and don't hear the old standard alarm. I'm in the market looking for something like this now... Too bad...I was all excited expecting to buy this!
