Space Camp: Octagon Tent offers futurist shelter on the cheap

boxhouse1.jpgThe next time you want to play Mission to Mars, and pretend you've got one of those spacecraft tents you see on Star Trek, you'd do well to use the Octagon Tent-in-a-box. Developed by Sago Mokuzai, the portable home was designed for emergency use, but given its small size and convenience it's certain that some urban adventurers will take this thing to the next, semi-permanent, level. The rumored price of the product is about 150,000 yen ($1,350), but considering the component materials the insta-home should price significantly less than your marginally better constructed big city, studio apartment scraping the $2,000 per month mark.
