Now I'm not sure if an appliance as widespread and utilitarian as the washing machine is really in desperate need of a radical redesign, but I suppose there's no harm in thinking outside the box and trying to improve existing technologies.
The Sfera spherical washing machine is shaped like a ball, small enough to tuck it away in a bathroom somewhere. That's great for saving space, but probably not so great for washing big loads of laundry. The entire ball spins around to get your clothes nice and clean, which is a neat idea, but if it makes you do twice as many loads as a traditional washer I'm not sure if it's a design that'll ever catch on.

If its small enough to fit into my apartment, which has no room or connections for a normal washer and dryer, then I would definitely think of getting one if it has a small dryer counter part.

It would be good for hotels. Then maybe people that travel alot like sales men and airline emploies won't be washing their undies in the coffee pots in hotel rooms.

Think of the boom for college dorm life? Small apartments that do not have washer/dryer hookups in the apartment... how many horror stories have we seen that involved going into the basement of a complex to wash/dry clothes.
As the opening sentence stated, this is a "think outside the box" type concept, and I could see that it has future potential...
great idea and keep up the outside the box thinking!

If only the designer would answer the question I posed of him on the originating source. He's surfed through, but hasn't responded ... perhaps because the problem isn't one that's properly addressed.
