Sexy and retro Scope Clock encases a cathode ray tube in acrylic

cathode_clockfront.jpg

When a ‘50s-style nixie clock isn’t going to cut it, get even more retro-techno with this Scope Clock. Made by nixie wristwatch maker David Forbes in his Cathode Corner laboratories, this gorgeous creation mixes up the old and the new, with a 3/8-inch acrylic case and a cathode ray tube telling the time inside.

Your $999 buys a lot of sophistication, with a display that can show analog or digital-style numerals, GPS connectivity for the exact time, and enough tweak-knobs to warm the cockles of even the geekiest engineer’s heart. Pictured here and in the gallery below is the prototype — Forbes says the limited production version is “nearly ready to buy.”

That would be a perfect tie in with the arrival of Fallout 3.
