Proton air conditioner uses ionization to be more eco-friendly
The Proton air conditioner, designed by Michael Laut, is not only a lot slicker looking than your standard AC unit, but it's also much quieter and more environmentally friendly. That's because it uses ionization to do its job.
And hey, it'll even water your plants for you! Place it over you plants and the condensation produced by the compressor will water whatever you place below it. Combine this with the fact that it's made from a corn-based, eco-friendly plastic, and you've got an air conditioner that's a step above what we've got now.

Hasn't it been proven that producing ions (think Sharper Image air cleaner) is bad for people with allergies?

Not necessarily. The sharper image has been given a bad time because of the radiation it emits (aka Ozone). If Sharper Image had enough money to clean up its act (didn't they declare bankruptcy?) the actual Ionization part of it might be good.
