Pneumatic Cybertek Wings fly straight out of a cyberpunk wet dream

Cybertek-wings-two-point-oh.jpg
Designer John Paul Rishea has a gallery of wild and outlandish clothing, if you've got the balls to wear them. He's created futuristic-looking collars, sets of wings and robotic gauntlets that would make robo-rockers Daft Punk drool, all sold for several hundred dollars.

His latest and most impressive addition to his Cybertek fashion line is pictured above: A pair of pneumatic wings made from carbon fiber and extruded aluminum. At the flick of a switch, the wings will open up to a span of six feet, and can close and open seven times before an included pneumatic pump needs to be used to replenish the air supply. The shining wing tips add a nice ambient glow, and different colors are available (and I'm sure you could figure out how to swap them out).

Cyberpunk goodness comes at a steep price, however. Cybertek Wings 2.0 will set you back $1,000.

Check out the gallery below for much more of these crazy wings.

this is friken awsome!!!

Sure does seem like this guy, "Kevin Hall," likes to post photos of cleavage bearing chicks. Don't think I forgot about that weird desk lamp dress girl thing you did a while back! Still trying to push down the boner.

Hmm- lessee... Things I'd spend a thousand dollars on... sweet ass stereo/entertainment equipment? Check. An iPoo'd and a small album collection? Yeppers. Dvd's of Foamy the Squirrel & Horror/Scifi shows? Oh, sure - why not.
A pneumatic "costume as art" That probably breaks down more often than it functions as intended? Oh, No thanks - I'll pass. But it certainly LOOKS cool and manages to raise the attention-whore bar by several degrees. *golf clap*

These are actually several years old. I saw them a few years ago while looking up cyber clothing.

Well I got all excited, but for crying out loud when it was bleedingly obvious that it's purely a show pony, one has to ask "WHY???"

Now if they were to include a nice material covering to actually function like wings(albeit they would need to be much larger), then you might be able to have condor man moments and jump off high rise buildings, gliding around on your pneumatically controlled wings.

As a fashion accessory, who would be insane enough to wear something that's got the potential to give you a law suit every time you wack someone in the face or the tit with some extruded aluminium and carbon fibre?

No, not only impracticle, but totally useless into the bargain.

Oh well, the idea was nice I suppose. Back to you Leonardo Divinci.

Oh wow, hey my wings are on scifi.com! Very nice. Yes these pictures were taken with the prototype wings I made a few years ago. The more recent versions can open a hundred times before being recharged with an electric actuator instead of a pneumatic. AND with better mechanisms the wings open up more. They point upwards slightly by about 10 degrees.
