Largest solar array in the world planned for India
The world's largest solar energy project is currently in its planning phases, and it looks like it's going to be absolutely enormous. Planned for Gujarat, India, it'll be producing 5 gigawatts of power when all is said and done. That's a serious amount of energy.
The plan is to build an array that's five times the size of the current largest solar project in the world. It'll cost about $475 million to construct, and all the production and manufacturing will be done on site, employing local workers and using local materials. The current largest solar array in the world produces 900 megawatts of power, so this 5 gigawatt plan gives you an idea of its scope.

Photovoltaic cells or Concentrated Solar Power? By the way, picture is not even a rendered graphic of the future site but it's "Solar One" project near Barstow California, which is CSP technology. You can see it using Google Maps or something similar and go to this coordinate 34-52-20N 116-50-05W.

That's really cheap. $100k per MW or $.10 per watt. That's about 15 x cheaper than anything I've seen. Cheapest solar out there is about $1.50 per MW. Can't be right...

as we all Indians are proud of our most effective chief minister's laser like focus on growth.
it is to be thought of to put in small systems across the state than going in for a very large one as the redundency increases in small & many such sites & many other advantages can be further discussed.
