Freewheeler speaker is awesome except for the price

freewheeler_speaker_arad.jpgMaybe I'm missing something here, but I don't really understand the appeal of this Freewheel speaker. Let me give you the details: it's gigantic, about the size of a Mazda Miata tire and about twice as thick. It works wirelessly from up to 656 feet, and it has a rechargeable battery pack and a base station to give it juice. You can roll it around, indoors and out, and the sound should be pretty great.

Sounds not too bad, right? Here's where the confusion starts: this thing costs $21,000. What? For a single speaker? I don't care how big it is or how good it sounds, that's just flat-out insane. There is absolutely nothing about this thing that should cost more than, at the most, $2,000. And even that seems a bit egregious. I really don't understand audio companies sometimes.
