$1.69 million personal submarine is a real bargain
Are you sitting in your vault full of your millions of dollars, bored? You have everything and are just so over it all? Well, you probably don't have a submarine. That's something that could keep you entertained for a while, right? Right!
The Triton 1000 is a $1.69 million personal submarine. It seats two, and it's lightweight enough for you to keep it on the back of your yacht. It's got a lot of glass, letting you take in all the views of the deep sea that you're after if you're purchasing a submarine. I'm not really sure what makes this thing worth so much money, but I guess submarines aren't something you'd want to skimp on.

Yeah, the price tag really is ludicrous. The only reason I can imagine is that it must go to some amazing depths never before seen in personal submarines... or maybe has a pocket nuclear reactor? I dunno. Just seems like for over a million dollars I ought to be getting at least a small submersible yacht. Especially considering that you can get larger personal subs than this for under a tenth of the price :D I even remember reading a while back about some aussie company making personal subs that was supposed to be making a submersible dive boat of not inconsiderable size (and completely inconsiderable awesomeness :D) for a smaller price tag. Probably never actually put the thing into production, but still :D

The certification costs are over $200K and the acrylic sphere alone is $250K. We actually lost money building this first of series deep submersible.
Since we're the only company in the world building submersible yachts I can tell you that they start at $6 million and go up from there to $90 million.
The bottom line is this; you wouldn't want to go to 3000 feet in a cheap submersible.
