Shape Up alarm clock demands exercise in exchange for peace and quiet

shapeup__alarm.jpg

This trend of alarm clocks that torture you while waking you up is puzzling. Here’s the latest one, called Shape Up, a Fred & Friends design appearing in the form of a dumbbell that keeps honking out its maddening racket until you’ve done 30 reps. That oughta wake you up.

This insistent design, while encouraging fitness, leaves us wanting more. A better choice would be Clocky, which goes scurrying under the bed as it wakes you up. Clocky’s a riot around here, delighting the younger members of the crew to no end every morning.

But Shape Up might actually be practical, relentlessly enforcing those ambitious plans to firm up those biceps and triceps, while waking you at the same time. There’s a certain efficiency in that. Just don’t go throwing this one across the room; you could put an eye out.

i'm not sure this is a great idea. then you exercise, you need to be warmed up in order not to hurt yourself. the moment you wake up form 8 hour sleep is when you are the most cooled down. your muscles are very loose. there's a reason getting out of bed is chore sometimes. 30 reps in the morning right when you wake up sounds like muscle strain.
