Seabreacher submarine looks, jumps like a dolphin

SeaBreacher_main.jpg

We're fans of personal submarines, sure, but anyone with a couple million dollars lying around can get one of those. No, we like stuff more exclusive, more rare, and more resembling marine life. That's why we love the Innespace Seabreacher, a two-seater submersible made to look and move like a dolphin. A follow-up to the company's original one-seat design (called — wouldn't you know it — the Dolphin), the Seabreacher uses the same canopy as an F-22 fighter jet, keeping the roomy interior nice and dry inside a watertight seal.

The best part is how it jumps: Made to move like a dolphin, the vessel uses the downward lift of its wings to jump out of the water, and it can even do barrel rolls. Just check out the video of the Seabreacher in action after the Continue link below.

Want one? You can get this stunning example of biomimicry custom built just for you. When you have it, let me know when I can borrow it, 'kay?

I don't know, aren't dolphins considered "snack food" by Orcas and Great Whites? Do you really want to be in something that looks and acts like a dolphin?

How much does it cost? I went to their site and there was no price? What is the big mystery about the cost?

I was out in one of these the other day. It was awsome. The dolphins really love them. Talk about an experience. I drove with the dolphins and they played for hours. I am saving my money to do this again.

@poster did they let you drive? How hard could it be?

These things have come a long way. Last time I looked at Dolphins, in-depth, was over 10-yrs ago on some cross-country Delta flights. They were originally advertised in those online shopping mags, e.g., Hammlecher-Schlemmer, in the '90s, going for around $180,000. To come down to less than $50k is making me rethink these things. Of course, back then, they were doing 80+ mph above water, 30-mph underwater, fully submersible to allow scuba-diving (yes, the cockpit opened underwater), 5-min air-supply (refiltering). First time seeing one in action was the old Sealab series. Several had sold at the time and the mfg. gave full training. Now, seems they're more recreational than anything. Still cool & fun, especially in a lake.
