Robotic Sea Bream looks good enough to eat

robot_sea_bream_1.jpgWhile this might look like a guy holding a gigantic Sea Bream, that's only half right. In reality, it's a guy holding a gigantic robotic Sea Bream, which is much cooler. Designed by engineers at the University of Kitakyushu, this huge fake fish is designed to survey the goings on underwater while blending in with its surroundings.

The fish weighs a whopping 15.4 pounds, but it has a unique propulsion system that lets it move its tail and silently scoot through the water like a real fish. The body is made of silicone and the scales were hand-painted on for realism. And damn did they do a good job. Hit the jump for a video of our fishy friend in action.
