Kodak must be eager to abandon its film roots. Now it’s announced an HDTV player that will bring video as well as music and photos from computers and the Internet into the living room. At first glance, it looks a lot like many other digital players/set-top boxes already everywhere. But Kodak borrows a page from the Nintendo Wii with a gestural remote control (pic after the Continue jump), abandoning a bunch of buttons for its motion-sensitive ease of use. Kinda reminds us of that exquisite remote control on the Vudu box.

The box hooks up to your PC or browses the web and YouTube via Wi-Fi, and connects to your HDTV with HDMI or component video. There’s also a flash reader so you can plug in cards from cameras or camcorders and play back photos or video right then and there. Too bad there's no Blu-ray player on board, or it would be almost worth its steep $299 price when it rolls out in September.
