Blobwall Pavilion aims to make bricks obsolete

blobwallpavilion.jpgBricks are so last century. For today's wacky construction jobs, you need a building material more unique than stupid old bricks. Architect Greg Lynn came up with just such a material, designed using lightweight recyclable plastic. Each tri-cornered unit can be mass produced, and is robotically-cut through a process called rotational molding.

To prove that his crazy new bricks can stand up to the test, he created a structure called the Blobwall Pavilion made completely out of them and put it up for display at the Sci-Arc Gallery in Los Angeles. While it certainly looks interesting, I'm not sure anyone will be making buildings out of the things anytime soon. But I kind of hope I'm wrong.
