AT&T to support iPhone with $30/month 3G connectivity

iphone2_atandt.jpg

We were worried that all that new-found 3G speed for the iPhone would break the bank, but now AT&T tells us the tariff for “unlimited” 3G connectivity will run you a mere $30 a month with a two-year contract. That’s a bit more than the current $20 the company now charges for unlimited iPhone connectivity to the EDGE network.

Of course, you’ll have to pony up for a voice plan to go along with that, which starts at $39.99 per month. That probably includes 500 minutes of talk time and 200 text messages. Still $10 more per month for the extra speed is not a bad deal, especially if AT&T can keep that speed sprightly under the heavy load of all the new $200 iPhone users. But AT&T says it’s spent $20 billion over the past three years on its wireless network, so maybe it’ll be up to snuff.

AT&T has a current plan for $40/month for voice...it's their 450 minute plan. It's what I currently use on my HTC 2125. I'll be switching to the new iPhone when it's released though...but nothing about my billing will be changing I believe.

If I'm understanding things right, my bill would go down. I'm paying $40/month for the 450 minute voice plan and another $40/month for data.

I pay 130 for 4 cell phones free long distance and about 1400 minutes a month. I predict a change in my bill when I get the new phone XD
