If this conceptual race car was a reality, you'd find me at the racetrack a lot more often. Sponsored by Honda and the Indy Racing League, the objective of designer Tyler Mars's project was to create a new, eye-catching vehicle for the race. Well, mission accomplished.
The Honda IRL race car rests atop a hydrogen-powered "skate," and its sleek curves and airways reduce drag and help keep everything cool. Arrowhead-shaped stones were the inspiration for its aggressive shape, though it still features the same open-wheeled design that's been made classic in the Indy Racing League.
Tyler Mars received a BFA at the Industrial Design College for Creative Studies in Detroit "Car Capital" Michigan. Check out the gallery below for more of his Honda Indy racer.

XFX is a video card manufacturer. You sure this isn't just a press stunt?
Neato looking though.

My name is Tyler Mars and i designed this IRL car for Honda. The brief included picking a major sponsor of the car, i wanted to draw in a younger more tech-savvy crowd, so i used XFX...what can i say, i build computers also. no "press-stunt" involved, XFX doesn't even know of it's existence...thanks for the compliments!

Very cool! Will there ever be a street version?

Tyler - awesome. A direct opposite of the current trend to make 'boxy' SUV's. We really could go hydrogen fuel cell if we had the collective will.

Interesting design, Tyler. What made you go with a front engine?
" . . . though it still features the same open-wheeled design that's been made classic in the Indy Racing League." The "league" did not make the open-wheel design classic. Not by a very, very long shot.
irl - the answer to a question that was never asked.
tony george - Wanker of the highest degree.

I want to make love to this car. Wait, did I type that or just think it? Seriously, if this had been used as the design for the Mach 5 in the "Speed Racer" movie, I would have seen it - or, more than about 10 people would have seen it (the movie), for that matter.
