scarybridge.jpgHow brave are you? Because from the looks of it, the Sky Bridge in Langkawi, Malaysia will require some guts to gross. That's because this majestic cable-stayed bridge is supported by only one support column as it wraps its way around a mountain a whopping 2,250 feet above sea level.

Even scarier? The single support column is placed at an angle. Seriously, were they trying to make this thing look precarious? I'm sure it's perfectly safe, but come on. This bridge is pure terror. Hit the jump to see a video taken from its span.

Fabulus design.

Very cool. Actually, the angled strut makes it *more* stable (with the supporting cables), because more of the weight goes back into the mountain, less likely to slide away i think.
Anyways, it looks a whole HECK of a lot safer than this thing: http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1438490562 !! ;)

I agree that the angled poll does indeed make it look safer.

But this old acrophobe is probably not going to try it.

Actually the wind (evidenced by the wind noise) is scary.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Greenville, South Carolina, has something similar, though the locale is clearly in a different league entirely.

The Liberty Bridge at Falls Park is held up by two supports and spans the Reedy River that runs through Greenville. Along the river and below the falls are parks and paths. As pictured, the bridge illuminates at night. If you're ever in the area, definitely check it out! Tip: take advantage of free parking at the Bowater Garage, right around the corner, then go eat at Smoke on the Water. =)

d00d, my stomach just dropped out like 100 times watching that El camino del Rey video!! thanks, EIDYLON! amazing! you're right the bridge in Malaysia is totall safe! :stomach still turning: ;P
