I don't think staircases get much cooler looking than this Floating Staircase. I mean, look at it! It's magically sprouting from the wall with a minimum of materials! I love it.
Then again, it looks horribly dangerous. I mean, ignoring the fact that I'd be expecting each step to snap off every time I walked up it, there's no handrail on the side to prevent you from losing your balance and toppling off. This is definitely a no-no for any household with kids or, heck, any household with clumsy residents. Proceed at your own risk.

This is just plain stupid design. It is definitely a case of form over function. Why even bother mentioning it?

It's too bad that we will never see this design actually built in this country (US) because it would never meet any building code here. No railings on either side. More's the pity because it is a beautiful design. Dangerous yes, but still pretty.

Is this really a "dvice"?

Let me start by saying that I'm a registered architect. GEOMEDIA, you are absolutely correct: beautiful, and impossible to build (legally) in the US. Bill Drew, please visit a few countries other than the US. Designs that are identical to navigate have been around for centuries, and people are not constantly killed and injured by them. They LEARN to use them properly. Here in the land of the free we are not truly free. We are forced, by code, to design for the stupid people who will not LEARN.

Reggorf, if you put a rail along the wall, would it then be up to code?
