Apparently, the future of eco-friendly vehicles is the soap box derby racer. At least that's what Bentley's battery-powered Continental DC electric car looks like.
Unlike a soap box derby racer, however, this guy can get moving at up to 40mph without needing to start at the top of a hill, thanks in part to its svelte 265-pound frame. It's not the most practical thing in the world, what with its single-passenger capacity, lack of cargo room, and open cabin that would make driving in the rain or snow a messy affair. But it proof that the folks at Bentley are exploring their green options, which isn't anything to complain about.

Instant death at 20mph crash?

"... this guy can get moving..."
Is that a guy or a girl?

She should be wearing goggles if she wants to reach 40mph. That is pretty cute and impressive, but this article lacked a lot of details like: how well did Bentley do against the competition? What sort of tech were they employing? What is the range? That was interesting seeing the stationary wheel covers over the bicycle wheels.

We built these kinds of simple cars as teenagers with military salvage DC motors and two car batteries. Everyone laughed at us and said it will never happen! Guess the shoe is on the other foot now.

Looks like fun--on the go-cart track. (If you add a helmet and a roll bar.) I'm getting tired of seeing the "green option" explored. I remember seeing on-the-road electric prototype cars in 1975. Where's the progress?

Atozoregon:
The progress was shot down a number of times that started with Reagan, and kept being slapped down by various congress puppets paid off by various special interest groups like oh, say, Big-Oil, etc. Can blame them for the sad lack of ALL alternate-fuels for cars and most other things.
As for this article.. Sure, Bentley is trying to get green, question is AS a lark, or WITH a lark?
