As a Manhattan apartment dweller, any type of living plant that enters my domain tends to have a pretty short life span. Between lack of light, and my own neglectfulness, I can offer the kiss of death to even the most hardy cactus. Perhaps I need something to practice on first.
The Flower Nurse from designer QianJun Gao is just that, an artificial potted plant where the three flowers have displays showing the temperature, humidity and oxygen levels. What's really neat however, is that should you neglect the Flower Nurse's needs, the leaves will start to droop indicating distress. Once you've gotten the hang of keeping the Flower Nurse looking healthy, you can presumably mix it in with some real plants, while keeping it running as an early warning indicator of trouble.
