A desk that holds an entire computer inside
This elegant desk hides a fully-functioning computer inside, saving space and allowing you to keep the space on or under it free and clear. It also has a monitor built in and attached at the back, meaning the only space you'll need to take up on the desk will be a keyboard and mouse. The rest of the surface is yours to use as you see fit.
You can access the computer's goodies such as the ports and drives on the side, and the cable comes out the back all hidden-like. It's a slick-looking number, too, making it something I wouldn't mind keeping in my house if I hadn't moved on to laptops years ago. Oh well.

@Zarchitect... that's why you create an access door to the RAM and hard drive - the two most upgraded items. Manufacturers do that with laptops, why not with something like this?

Actually, if you read the description at the linked site the desk panel lifts up giving full access to all internal components. The whole thing is upgrade-able/replaceable, so no issues on that. I think cooling would be the real problem since the thin design wouldn't promote airflow. Liquid cooling required? That or disassemble a laptop into it, but that seems silly.

the screen is so tiny compared to the desk. redesign it so its a 'breakfast in bed' concept and has a stand essentially for your laptop while you lay in bed propped up at the remote office. now there's practicality. this concept looks like a flimsy ping pong table and a 4.5" screen. gimmie a 24" wiFi enabled HD screen if you're going to go this far into futuristic concepts.

Great stuff!.....I guess all the previous comments about upgrading, screen size and usability should be looked at before you roll this out an a commercial basis, but this looks like a great idea.

The desk looks at least 2 1/2" thick ... LOTS of room there for upgradable components IMO.
The end where the CD / DVD drive is probably slides right out.

I actually just thought of this idea , and then found your design. Perhaps design the desks so that both the keyboard and monitor can flip up! (rotate under the desk) so you can use all the desk space if required :)
Also the fans (cooling) could be used as a faeture on the back top side of the desk. The protective mesh for a fan could look like a ncie feature and also led coloured fans could also ask as desk lamps / lights
on your cellphone!
