Toyota 1/X Concept, the plug-in hybrid car of the future?

Sure, there are a lot of concept car designs floating around, but when Toyota cranks out a futuremobile, everyone remembers the Prius and stands at attention. This 1/X plug-in hybrid concept shaves off plenty of pounds to save energy, tipping the scales at a third the weight and using half the juice of the Prius.
How’s this weight reduction done? Bio-plastics, my boy. Its frame is made of a polymer using renewable plants and reinforced with carbon fiber, and even its see-through roof is made of hard, light and exotic man-made materials. It all sounds too expensive to be true. We especially like that snazzy bank of LED headlights across the front.

What are care manufacturers going to figure out that an "electric" car, or whatever type of other hybrid or non-gas guzzling must STOP LOOKING crazy. Americans will not drive a car that doesn't look "normal". I know that this is just a concept car and all that, but these cars, must start to look and feel LIKE A REAL CAR.

I like the 5-passenger 80 mph Toyota RAV4-EV, with its 120-mile all-electric range, much better.
The RAV4-EV was created in 1997, last sold in 2002. Is Toyota moving backward from that success? This little thing looks like a toy, not a car. The Toyota RAV4-EV still runs fine, even without Toyota support.

I really like the looks of this Dude!
I wonder if TRGARNER was old enough to have seen the first Ford Thunderbird in '54. It surely looked different and they sold lots and lots of them.
We're here on earth for one primary reason, i.e., to CHANGE.

American vehicles have to be lighter, more aerodynamic, and contain fewer destructive materials. In short they really can't look like "normal" cars if they are going to make an environmental impact. This car represents long-standing ideas being implemented for the first time, and toyota understands that it needs to be a testbed for tech first. I doubt they would have a problem selling them if they made them. I would sign up.
