Ticketime concept makes flying less practical
You've gotta love tech concepts that throw any notion of practicality out the window and just focus on making the most "gee whiz" product possible. Just take a look at this Ticketime concept. It's an airplane ticket, right, but on the right said is a strip of semi-transparent electronic paper that has a countdown to when your flight is supposed to leave. You rip it off and use the attached magnets to wear it like a watch.
Cool, right? Yes, but does ePaper like this even exist yet? And when it does, will it be so cheap as to be nearly disposable? And how will that effect the environment? Also, is this actually solving a problem? People seem to be OK at keeping track of basic things such as when their flights leave, I'm not sure the airplane ticket really needs such a radical redesign to address this non-existent problem. But hey, it sure looks cool! Nice work, designers!

so....dose this thing have a wireless uplink to the airlines database or something...
what if your flight is delayed or canceled… this probably the most worthless idea ..ever
a more logical idea would be , a way to upload such info to a PDA ,smart ,phone ,cell phone, laptop… or just look at ticket ..see time …look at watch ..see time ..subtract the difference … not all that hard.

as a frequent traveler with long layovers, if this thing updated with CURRENT status, delays, etc. this would be an amazingly idea. you could leave the airport, do some shopping, have a few drinks at the bar, and not worry about checking your watch every 15 minutes. i'm assuming you could turn in the bracelet at the gate when you board so they could be re-used/recycled. i, for one, would love this thing.

I'm really tired of all these "concepts" I'm seeing on gadget blogs these days. Okay, a few of them have some merit, but most of them are either stupid (like this one) or impossible. Yanko Design is on my ignore list. No more concepts!
The dork who came up with this one didn't even proofread the couple dozen words on the ticket.

These concepts are not developed for actual use, they are ideas that are beyond the norm but one day will be molded and carved into something logical and usefull... Yanko Designs is a site dedicated to people with no creative borders, they have the vision and someone will have the means to create the future. When they said computers where rediculous, when they thought cell phones where satins work, now we have laptops and smart phones... it starts like this.
