Recently we showed you the lengths Japanese hay fever suffers go to stave off pollen, but we overlooked a less cumbersome and decidedly more fashionable option called the Nose Mask Pit. Created by Bio International Japan, the mechanism fits snugly and invisibly into your nostrils and filters out all the nasty allergens and pollutants waiting to invade your delicate system. The coolest part is that you get a cartridge of Nose Mask Pit "rounds" which makes fighting off the sneezes at least seem a little cooler. You can pick up and holster your pollen fighters for just 1,480 yen ($14) here.

Swine Flu tested?

From what I ave seen, the nose pit filtration masks are for filtration of large particles only, like pollen and dust. It is not an N95 rated breathing filtration device, therefore it is not tested or proven effective against viruses, scent particles, bacteria, or mold spores.
That said, however, I personally believe that any protection is better than nothing, and it may be that in Japan, there does not exist the same rating system for masks as there is in the US?
Now THAT would be worth finding out.
Anyone?
