Mural Dishwasher cleans your plates where you store them; may also work as a shower

muraldishwasher.jpg

Putting your dirty dishes into a dishwasher to clean them only to move them again to a cupboard for storage, is a pretty inefficient system when you think about it. At least that's what University of Montreal in Quebec student designers Marie-Christine Lacasse and Marie Claude Savard were thinking when they came up with their Mural Dishwasher concept.

Once the rack is full of dirty dishes, you can start the wraparound washer, which slides along the length of the rack, cleaning as it goes. Just how it manages not to drench you and everything else in the kitchen with water as it operates, isn't exactly clear.

It's exactly clear how it doesn't soak you. Those plexiglass panels aren't there for nothing. My guess it doesn't move continuously, but instead moves from compartment to compartment and cleans, keeping the water inside, and you outside.
