Intempo Rebel works like a radio TiVo, but smarter

intempo_front2.jpg

The Intempo Rebel is a new kind of FM radio. Available first in the UK, this nicely designed receiver records songs off the radio like a TiVo would, but it’s much smarter. Not only can it cut out the DJ chatter and commercials between songs, but its Popcatcher tech figures out which are the most-played songs on a given station and records those for you, turning them to easily-transferred mp3 files.

These shiny black or red recording radios, which will be shipping “soon” in the UK for £70 ($139), must be the stuff of the nightmares of U.S. advertising hucksters and record company greedmeisters. Cuts out the commercials, records all the favorite songs you want for keeps, for free? Maybe that’s why it’s not available in the United States.

Then there's the supremely annoying habit of DJs talking over the beginnings and endings of songs.

This is the rise of free man's will!

There is no way that technology can be stopped. Intempo has done all things right now, I am looking forward to what "soon" means. I will get the Rebel, be sure of that.
