A grave is a hole covered with dirt. If the casket/body "returns to the earth" then what happens? Right! The hole moves up to the surface and a backhoe falls in it! That is why caskets are in vaults. Nice try hippies, bio-degrade all you want, you are still gonna be stuck in a concrete box.

Not all graveyards use concrete tombs. Infact many burials leave raised mounds to prevent exactly what you were describing. Settlement of soil is a known quantity and the "hole" would not happen. If anything, even without mounding the earth up, would be a slight depression in the ground.
