A surge protector you won't hide under your desk
I find the most interesting designs to be those that take mundane objects that are designed with utilitarian impulses and make them aesthetically pleasing. Take this WirePod, for example. Essentially, it's a fancy surge protector, but it looks so cool.
Curling out on the floor, it looks like a piece of wrought iron sculpture. Rather than hiding it under your desk, behind the couch, or under the rug, you could make room for it on the floor, making it a part of your interior design. And why not? No one said surge protectors had to be ugly.

They don't have to be ugly, but they don't have to take up half my floor either... This is for large empty houses only.
