Computers are getting quieter and quieter, what with silent SSD drives replacing traditional hard drives. Cooling fans, meant to keep the CPU cool, are becoming the only moving parts left in computers, and even their days are numbered.
That's because there's a new fan under development that has no moving parts. This might sound a bit illogical, but it actually uses "electric fields to generate a plasma that can move air." And by using electrical charges to move the air, not real fans are required to keep things moving and the space around a chip cool. It's only a matter of time before computers are completely silent.
