Looking like something from a 1950s science fiction movie, the Trump International Hotel and Tower might have seemed obscenely garish in his New York City home turf, but looks right at home in wild and crazy Dubai. Completion is due in 2009.

From what I hear they want to switch the base of their economy to tourism before the oil wells run dry, so they do everything big. What else would you expect from the place that decided that since they were running out of beach front property, they should build the world's largest man made island, then build a larger one, then build an even larger one, and then build the world's largest man made archipelago.

It's so ironic. That part of the world hates the West for being opulent, and yet Dubai has become the poster child for opulence. Nuke 'em now!
