Tent-mounted ceiling fan is a sign of the apocalypse

tent_ceiling_fan.jpg

Sure, I may not be the most outdoorsy-person in the world, but I'm pretty sure I know when certain items cross that line, and it's very apparent that a tent ceiling fan is the kind of product that does so. This device mounts to the top of a tent and will produce a nice stream of air using six D-size batteries. It also includes a light.

Isn't the point of camping and being outdoors the experience? You know, roughing it and all of that jazz? There's something about a ceiling fan outdoors would make Lewis and Clark roll in their respective graves. At this point you should probably just buy a massive RV, park it in the woods, never leave the vehicle and call it camping. The tent ceiling fan is made by Coleman and is available for $25.

You have not spent much time in a tent I can see. A fan is a really good addition as it helps keep the condensation from building up, keeps the tent temperature fairly constant (tents tend to heat up quite a bit during the day). The added bonus of a light is even better. A solar charger would be pretty nice for this. This isn't a product for the hiking in camping set, it's for car camping which about 80% of all Americans have done at one point in their lives. Personally we even bring a laptop and DVD's to watch at night before we go to bed when we go car camping.

I have to agree with "KINGBOO" on this item. After spending many years camping a fan would be a welcome addition to the trip. Plus seeing that Coleman is making it they do not make to many products that useless for the outdoors.

The bad side is that it is heavy. You can't really mount it in most tents, so you are stuck holding it or putting it down... And if you do get to hang it, it WILL damage your tent (ripped a hole in my nylon Coleman tent). And it does not cool all that much of an area.
Good side is that it is a mobile fan.
