Have just one hand? This snail-inspired keyboard might help

caracol-keyboard-img1_54.jpg

Despite being inspired by a snail, this keyboard concept, named the Caracol, would be great for amputees and just regular keyboarders alike. It looks a bit like a snail and uses a rotating keywheel. The keywheel has a 5:1 gearbox so it will rotate with ease, allowing the keys to rotate onto your fingers for typing. Each key on the keywheel is omnidirectional so users can input three different letters with one key. The combination of the easy rotating and limited finger movement could also increase typing speeds.

The applications for an idea is practically endless. It could be used simultaneously with a mouse for photo or video work, or it could be a great solution for those with limited movement in a hand. It could likely reduce carpal tunnel as well.
