Segway with big tires is still a lame Segway
Segways aren't the coolest or manliest way to get around. No, they're more like a giant sign on your back announcing that you're a dork. It's too bad, really, because Segways do seem to be a kind of fun way of getting around, no?

If you really want to ride a Segway around but you also don't feel like being emasculated in public every time you do, might I recommend slapping some gigantic tires onto it? Just take a look at the video above, which shows an enterprising gentleman on a Segway that's as badass as a Segway is ever going to get. Or you could, you know, walk or drive in a car. Just saying.

Don't blame the device for the idiot that decides to mod it stupidly.
The guy may be a tool, but the Segway (without this jackass mod), is still pretty cool.

I bet it can't turn! The tyres too way too wide.

The Segway may be lame, but I still want one.

Not that one though. That one is dumb.

That is just one guys modifcation, the real big tired segways (with just two big tires) are called X models either XT's for the older model and X2 for the newest. They are nothing but a blast to ride.

That segway is a joke! Really it was a joke, and a joke that fit perfectly well in the context for which it was intended. For someone who spent a lot of time researching aftermarket tires for the segway community, that was a very funny video. When someone asked about what size tires to put on, this was one very funny 'response'.

As for not being the "coolest or manliest way to get around" ? Sorry, your opinion doesn't matter to me. I got one for fun, and by the way, because of my segway, I'm not buying 100 gallons of gas each year I use it. Going on four years now. You figure out how much Co2 I'm not putting into the air each year. I think that's cool. It's people and media like yours that slows progress and acceptance of emerging technologies. Why don't you replace the word 'dork' with the word 'smart'. And while you're at it, look up Dean Kamen on TED.COM and maybe you'll write something constructive.

Segways rock. And nerds are cool :D
(I would date with a guy if he let me ride his Segway. And that's not an euphemism for anything.)

the dork factor of riding a segway is inversely proportional to the satisfaction of owning an unnecessary, five thousand dollar toy.
