When you think of a nice resort to run off to, it probably isn't the shape of a dome and surrounded by miles and miles of snow and ice. You may reconsider after checking out Hotel Kakslauttanen in Saariselkä, Finland.
You could book a traditional igloo made from ice if you want, but the real treat there is the special glass igloos. Using thermo glass, the heated igloos remain a comfortable room temperature, and the special panes won't frost over so you'll have a clear view of the freezing world around you and the skies above (Northern Lights, anyone?) — though bear in mind people can see in, too. It's just another example how reapplying simple technologies like temperature-resistant glass can make a world of difference.
