R2D2 may be about as cute and cuddly as droids get, so I have no problem when kids choose to relate to his human qualities. However, when fully grown adults like Artoo to the point where they are willing to put a life sized replica in their kitchen, it clearly crosses the line between normal people and fully developed dorkiness. We've seen other R2 lookalike gadgets before, but a trash can seems like a new level of silliness. I suppose the fact that you'll be tossing your stinky leftovers into R2's head might indicate some degree of hidden resentment, but I'm no psychologist.
