Panasonic Toughbook mini-PC debuts for 12-inch Powerbook refugees
The Toughbook has been around for a while wooing many corporate and military users but failing to make a significant blip on the radar for most mainstream consumers. But the latest iteration of the Toughbook, the Panasonic Toughbook UMPC, could change the computer's profile among general consumers as it offers a powerful PC using a tiny form factor once lorded over by the now discontinued 12-inch Apple Powerbook G4. Using Intel's Atom processor and offering a barcode reader, a built-in webcam and a bright 5.6-inch display, the new Toughbook (price to be announced) could be the successor to the 12-inch Powerbook throne.
