Maplemap lamp gives a nod to our northern brethren

ani_maplemap.jpg

The Maplemap is a particularly snazzy lamp that was created by Frederic Guibrunet. Guibrunet doesn't sound like a Canadian name, but there is a good chance he is from the northern tundra as his lamp is constructed of maple leafs cut out of cotton paper. Guibrunet produced 100 of these lamps for purchase.

This is one of those ideas that looks amazing at first, but then you start to think about practicality and safety. A lamp made out of thin, cotton paper? Isn't that like building a house out of feathers, or making glass baseballs? It's just asking for trouble. Regardless, this lamp would look pretty good in any home, that is until the lamp manages to burn down said house.
